In the vibrant heart of the 13th arrondissement of Paris, the Italie 2 shopping center pulses with the energy of Asian cultures this weekend of February 14 and 15, 2026. The Banh Mi collective, which regularly attracts thousands to its events, has taken over the Galerie Place d’Italie to celebrate the Lunar New Year with immersive and lively festivities. It’s a wonderful opportunity to discover the vibrant cultures of Asian communities just a stone’s throw from Place d’Italie, in the heart of Chinatown.
This year marks the arrival of the Year of the Fire Horse, and Banh Mi Media isn’t holding back. For two days, the gallery transforms into a vibrant hub for cultural exchange and celebration. Visitors come to explore, taste, learn, create, and most importantly, share in the festivities. Founded by Linda Nguon, the collective aims to shine a spotlight on Asia and Asian cultures through various creative outlets: illustrations, podcasts, videos, reports, and events.
For this festive weekend, attendees can explore a designer market featuring talented artists specializing in illustration, ceramics, textiles, and dry goods. It's a wonderful chance to discover the work of Asian artists and creators inspired by Asian cultures. Curious visitors can also indulge in Asian-flavored ice creams that promise to take your taste buds on an extraordinary journey with unexpected flavors.
On the exhibition front, Banh Mi showcases two standout projects. First up is Humans of Chinatown, a photographic series created by Linda Nguon and photographer Vu Théara Kham, which shines a light on the stories and cultural richness of residents in Asian neighborhoods. After debuting at Parc de Choisy and Point Éphémère, this collection of portraits now finds a new home at Italie 2. Complementing the display is an exhibition dedicated to Vietnamese cuisine, serving as a reminder that food remains a powerful conduit for cultural exchange.
The workshops offer everyone a deeper dive into the traditions. On the agenda: photography sessions, lantern-making, autograph signings, and origami classes. There's plenty to keep both kids and adults engaged throughout the weekend. These activities are designed to be inclusive and welcoming, embodying the spirit of openness and sharing that defines the community.
Every day concludes with DJ sets that infuse a lively, celebratory vibe into the event. It’s a way to enjoy the festivities in good spirits and foster a warm, community atmosphere—just like Banh Mi Média has been doing since its launch in 2021. The collective has already hosted multiple editions of the Spring Festival at the 13th arrondissement City Hall, partnered with the Musée Guimet, and organized numerous cultural events that bring together communities around Asian identities.
The event takes place at the Italie 2 Shopping Center, located at 30 Avenue d'Italie, easily reachable via the Place d'Italie metro station (lines 5, 6, and 7). The designer market will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, and Sunday, February 15. Admission is free, subject to availability. As Paris’s second-largest shopping mall with 130 stores, the center provides a spacious and bright setting for this vibrant cultural celebration.
This initiative is part of the vibrant lineup for the Lunar New Year 2026 celebrations in the 13th arrondissement, set to run from February 13 to March 1. From festivities at the 13th District Hall to the grand parade organized by ARFOI on March 1, as well as this lively pop-up event at Italie 2, Paris's Chinatown is offering two extraordinary weeks to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse.
Stay up to date with Banh Mi and get the latest on their upcoming events by visiting their official website and social media channels.
