For the Night of Museums 2026, the Bourdelle Museum invites curious visitors to discover the work of sculptor Antoine Bourdelle during an exceptional late-night opening this Saturday, May 23. Here's what's on the program.

La Nuit des Musées is the European event that allows us to visit the most beautiful museums and monuments in our neighbourhood, during an exceptional, and often free, nocturne! Hundreds of cultural sites invite you to discover their treasures, and offer a variety of activities to brighten up your visit.

Fortunately, the Bourdelle Museum is taking part in this 22nd edition of the Night of Museums, this Saturday, May 23, 2026. Housed in the former studios of sculptor Antoine Bourdelle, the museum lays out its program and treasures for us. The collection is remarkable: hundreds of Bourdelle works are displayed in the artist’s workshop, offering visitors a rare glimpse into his creative process.

Antoine Bourdelle is known as one of the most talented and influential sculptors of his time, with a remarkable artistic career that spanned almost six decades. A master of monumental sculpture, he produced works that are now icons of the city of Paris, such as the famous "La France" on the Pont Alexandre III.

Bourdelle was also an eminent teacher, training generations of talented artists in the famous studio on rue Antoine-Bourdelle that now houses the museum we know today. His powerful, expressive style inspired many artists and continues to inspire today, making him one of the greatest French sculptors of all time.

You can admire the museum's permanent collections, made up of a large number of sculptures (plaster casts, bronzes, marbles, stone, earth and stoneware), as well as drawings, photographs (the artist's other passion), paintings and archival documents tracing the sculptor's life. You can also immerse yourself in the artistic atmosphere and enjoy the beauty and calm of the garden, a veritable oasis of greenery in the heart of the city.

What’s on for Museum Night 2026 at the Bourdelle Museum:

  • New, unseen creation 'Breath Sculpture' by the Korean duo U_RI (우리)
    Saturday, May 23, 2026 — 18:00 to 18:20, 19:00 to 19:20, 20:00 to 20:20, 21:00 to 21:20

As part of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France, organized by the Korea Cultural Center in partnership with Paris Musées, the Bourdelle Museum invites the Korean duo U_RI (우리) to conceive a new work in dialogue with the sculptor's oeuvre.

During the European Night of Museums on Saturday, May 23, 2026, the public will be invited to discover the piece “Sculpture of Breath,” created and performed by choreographer and dancer Jae-Hyun An and musician E’Joung-Ju, a performer of the geomungo (the ancient Korean zither).

    Description of the creation:

Breath belongs to the musician playing the geomungo, to the dancer, and to the sculptor at the moment of creation.

We do not belong to the same era, yet we share the same space, where breaths from different times meet.

At the Bourdelle Museum, the geomungo’s vibration and the body of the Korean dancer echo the sculpture’s time and the present.

Sculpture of Breath is not a performance that interprets or explains the artworks.

Rather, it is an act of presence, where the musician, the dancer, and the sculptor—though they exist within different temporalities—share, for an instant, a single breath.

In front of the sculpture’s still bodies, sound and movement awaken a suspended respiration.

When these breaths overlap, the artistic act takes shape.

Duration of each performance: 20 minutes.

A wonderful opportunity to rediscover a hundred or so sculptures, drawings, photographs and archive documents by the sculptor, but above all Bourdelle's artist's studio, reproduced thanks to photographic evidence. Shall we go, friends?
