The Night of Museums returns on Saturday, May 23, 2026, and for the occasion many museums will stay open for a free after-hours event! Fashion and art enthusiasts already know where to head to make the most of this unforgettable evening: the Palais Galliera is ready to welcome us for the 22nd edition of the Night of Museums.
Over the course of the evening, students from the École du Louvre—specializing in art history, fashion, or architecture—greet visitors in the Square of the Palais Galliera and, in a thoughtful and distinctive manner, illuminate a theme tied to the museum’s history and the exhibitions on view.
Chamber music students of Laure Bécard and Samuel Etienne at the Francis Poulenc Municipal Conservatory will perform classical repertoire pieces, including a trio made up of two violins and a cello, as well as two saxophone quartets.
The exhibition traces the defining features of women's fashion in the Enlightenment era and its countless reinterpretations throughout fashion history up to the present day. Often dismissed as a distant, even dusty century, the 18th century was nonetheless a pivotal moment in shaping feminine style that still informs the world of fashion and popular culture today.
The Palais Galliera kicks off a series of exhibitions focused on craftsmanship.
The first show highlights the art of ornamentation—weaving, printing, embroidery, lace, artificial flowers—that elevate and decorate garments and accessories. These techniques are explored through the flower motif, a staple in textile art and fashion since the 18th century.
Le programme est mis à jour en fonction des annonces officielles.
This program sounds fascinating, but the Palais Galliera is worth a detour, even without embellishments. Conceived by the Duchess of Galliera to showcase her art collection to the public, the private townhouse was completed in 1894. Unfortunately, due to an administrative error, the Duchess of Galliera cannot donate her collection to the city of Paris and will instead present it to Palazzo Rosso in Genoa.
The Renaissance-inspired building was then repurposed as an industrial art museum, as a stand‑in for the duchess’s collections. It would be 1977 before the City of Paris restored its original identity: the Museum of Fashion for the City of Paris could finally come into being.
Today, the City of Paris collection comprises more than 200,000 items, including clothing, accessories, photographs, and graphic artworks from the 18th century to the present day.
Intrigued by this program? There’s only one thing left to do: come visit Palais Galliera on May 23!
