Nuit des Musées returns to Paris and the Île-de-France region this Saturday, May 18, 2024. For the occasion, the Château de Vincennes unveils its program for an edition rich in exceptional nocturnes.

Every year, the Nuit des Musées (Night of the Museums ) awaits those who love cultural visits, with a rich program of exceptional nocturnes, free good deals and unusual events at the heart of museums, monuments, châteaux and other fine institutions. This year, the date is Saturday, May 18, 2024, and as you can imagine, Paris and the whole of the Île-de-France region are on board! This new edition promises to be full of wonderful discoveries to be enjoyed with family, friends, couples or even solo.

At the gateway to Paris, a historic château is about to reveal itself to you in a whole new light. The Château de Vincennes, located at the end of metro line 1, is a veritable treasure trove of Parisian heritage. This fortified castle - one of the most important in French history - was the residence of kings in the 14th century.

From the 16th to the 19th century, the Château de Vincennes was used as a prison, and its most famous inmates included the Marquis de Sade, Mirabeau and Fouquets. Today, the Château de Vincennes is still home to the historical department of La Défense. Visitors can explore the King's apartments, the Sainte-Chapelle and the upper sections of the Donjon.   • Free admission to two temporary exhibitions: "Vincennes dessinée" and "A la table des trois mousquetaires".

    Take a free tour of the château and discover the two current exhibitions: "Vincennes dessinée" on the first floor of the Donjon / "A la table des trois mousquetaires" in the sumptuous setting of the Sainte-Chapelle!

    The Enfants Conférenciers © scheme, initiated and led by Christophe Blanc, educational consultant and doctor in educational science, was launched in 2012 thanks to a partnership with the Musée des Arts et Métiers. Over time, it has been enriched by new partnerships with: the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the Petit Palais, the Musée de la Poste, the Château de Versailles... and the Château de Vincennes. On the occasion of the European Museum Night, a class of CE1 pupils from Jean Monnet elementary school in Clamart will be on hand to offer you a child's-eye view of the museum. Throughout your visit to the château, let yourself be guided and told the story of the château by "child lecturers" for a day.
