[r] Gilles Rochier graphic novels exhibition
Gilles Rochier, a self-taught comic artist based in Colombes, portrays the suburbia he knows so well, without slipping into the clichés of the housing estates. In 2012, the Angoulême International Comics Festival awarded him the Revelation Prize, and in 2023 he was named a Knight of the Arts and Letters.
The Museum of Art and History opens its doors to him with [r].
The exhibition offers a glimpse into the artist’s funny, sensitive creative world, set against a monochrome backdrop and the ever-present geometry of large housing blocks. From the launch of his fanzine En vrac in 1996 to his influences, visitors can discover his early pages, his career trajectory, and collaborations with fellow illustrators Fabcaro, Nicolas Moog, and Fabrice Erre.
