June 21 means the traditional Fête de la musique! Once again this year, budding musicians will be out in force, bringing the music alive for a whole day.
Every year, on the summer solstice, this not-to-be-missed event celebrates the arrival of the new season with music. Created in 1982 by the French Ministry of Culture, this free, open-air event transforms the capital into an open-air stage where amateurs and professionals perform in the streets, parks and public squares. On June 21, Paris resounds to the rhythm of open-air concerts, offering a mosaic of sound that delights residents and visitors alike. It's the perfect opportunity to discover new talent, dance to the sounds of local bands and enjoy the festive atmosphere that fills every neighborhood.
Everywhere else in the Paris region, free concerts are also organized, as in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés. Located in the south-eastern suburbs of Paris, in the Val-de-Marne region, Saint-Maur-des-Fossés borders on a number of other communes in the Paris region, including Bonneuil-sur-Marne, Champigny-sur-Marne, Créteil, Joinville-le-Pont and Maisons-Alfort. Throughout the year, Saint-Maur-des-Fossés takes part in a series of cultural events, including the Fête de la musique.
