The Fête de la Musique is one of the highlights of summer in Paris. Every year on June 21, the capital and surrounding region come alive with free concerts and DJ sets all over the Île-de-France region. In the streets, in the heart of churches, in museums, in public squares, in parks and gardens and much more besides, music is everywhere and artists of all kinds come to make the City of Light and its surroundings vibrate. It's hard not to find what you're looking for on this festive day, when one program follows another and no two are alike.
Cafés and restaurants also join the party. In the 11th arrondissement of Paris, in the Rue de Montreuil, where one good address follows another, a star-studded cast of local bars is getting ready to unveil its special Fête de la Musique happening: the Cocktail Route.
Five bars - Once Cocktail Bar, Vieux Carré, Col Verre, Speechless and Café Pivoine- are all next door to each other, offering visitors the chance to discover their different worlds through a card to be stamped at each stopover (provided you order an alcoholic or non-alcoholic cocktail): if you complete all the stages, you'll then be entered in a tombola to win surprise prizes.
That's for mixology enthusiasts. Otherwise, you'll also be able to enjoy a free program of concerts and shows at the various venues:
