Music Day 2026: rapper Rim'K to play a free concert on this square in Seine-Saint-Denis

Every year, the Fête de la musique brings together in the streets a crowd of music lovers, on the hunt for great musical picks of every kind. Rock, rap, electro, metal, classical, jazz, blues, zouk or reggae... all styles are showcased. Unsurprisingly, this fresh 44th edition of the Fête de la musique sticks to the tradition and promises to deliver an exceptional day.

By the way, do you know the origin of Fête de la musique in France? A popular, festive event that has become a staple for many French people, the Fête de la musique was launched for the very first time on June 21, 1982, spearheaded by Jack Lang, then the Minister of Culture, along with Maurice Fleuret and Christian Dupavillon, an architect-designer and cabinet member. At the time, they aimed to create a broad, public celebration that would give all musicians a chance to perform and be heard for one lively evening.

More than 40 years on, the Fête de la musique continues to echo every June 21 across the country, bringing its share of good-value plans. For fans of urban music, a city in Seine-Saint-Denis is set to welcome a true legend of French rap. His name? Rim'K, behind hits such as "Cellophané", "Fantôme", and "Air Max". We should note that Rim'K is one of the founding members of the Mafia K’1 Fry collective. He has also been part of the famous group 113.

This year, the renowned rapper from Vitry-sur-Seine will perform live on Place Marcel-Pointet in Stains, in Seine-Saint-Denis (the 93). Note that this free concert is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, the eve of the official Music Day.
