The Fête de la Musique is back in Paris and across France on Sunday, June 21, 2026! For a full day, amateur musicians and some well-known professionals celebrate live music by performing outdoors, but also inside museums, churches or concert venues. At every Fête de la Musique, all musical genres take center stage: from electronic to classical, including jazz and hip-hop, not to mention rock, with plenty of very rock'n'roll and lively moments on the program.
But what exactly is the Fête de la Musique? A free, popular musical event, the Fête de la Musique was created in 1982 on the initiative of the French Ministry of Culture. Wishing to enable all musicians to express themselves and make themselves known, Jack Lang, Christian Dupavillon, architect-scenographer and member of his Cabinet, and Maurice Fleuret imagined a major popular and free event. The very first Fête de la Musique was organized on June 21, 1982, the symbolic day of the summer solstice.
For over 40 years now, music in all its forms has resounded across France every June 21, delighting music lovers everywhere. For rock lovers looking for a good deal, there's no shortage of concerts in Paris.
Every year on the same date, bands paying homage to this musical style hit the streets. It’s their chance to revive some major rock classics from Metallica, AC/DC, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, and even Radiohead and Muse! Tune in for a Fête de la musique 2026 powered by rock!
