To mark the Fête de la musique in Paris, the Ministry of Culture is planning a wonderful summer evening of music to be enjoyed on Friday June 21, 2024 in the gardens of the Palais-Royal. On the program? Fanfares with historic Parisian bands, as well as amateur batucadas, a brass band and a concert by a musician from the metro.

The Fête de la musique returns to France on Friday, June 21, 2024 with a rich and eclectic program. While many towns and cities in the Paris region honor music by hosting a variety of musical hotspots, Paris remains an unmissable place to dance to the sounds produced by young talent and established artists alike.

Every year, the capital celebrates the Fête de la Musique with a flurry of concerts featuring rock, reggae,electro, rap, French variety, metal, zouk and classical music.

Every June 21, during the Fête de la Musique, a number of musical events take place along the Seine, on rooftops, in squares, parks and gardens, in bars and in museums. But others have become must-sees for Parisians, such as the 36h Saint-Eustache festival, or the free France Inter evening at the Olympia.

Another must-see event organized every year for the Fête de la musique? The traditional free concert offered by the Ministry of Culture in the heart of the Palais-Royal gardens. Every year, the Ministry organizes a beautiful evening of free concerts featuring a mix of amateur and established musicians. Last year, Ministry of Culture staff took to the stage, followed by amateur musicians, then established artists such as the talented Eesah Yasuke and Mentissa.

So, what program awaits you on June 21, 2024 in the garden of the Palais-Royal for this new Fête de la musique? This year, the French Ministry of Culture is putting brass bands in the spotlight throughout the afternoon. This year, the French Ministry of Culture is giving pride of place to brass bands throughout the afternoon, with historic Parisian ensembles such as the Fanfare des Beaux-arts de Paris and the Paris Brass Band, as well as amateur batucadas from priority districts all over France.

Fête de la musique 2024 at the Palais-Royal, the program

Friday, June 21, 2024 - 1:30 pm to 9:15 pm - Domaine national du Palais-Royal - Free admission from all entrances to the Palais-Royal (75001 Paris).

  • Batucada tunes - 1:30 pm to 2 pm
    Come and discover and listen to young artists playing the batucada from the streets of Rio de Janeiro. They come from working-class neighborhoods in Paris, Angers, Grenoble and Salins-les-Bains, and will give rhythm to the Paris 2024 ceremonies after their performance at the Fête de la Musique.

  • Lyrical and interactive stroll - four 30-minute sessions between 2 pm and 4 pm and four more between 6 pm and 8 pm. Registration required
    Headphones on, 800 walkers will travel to real and imaginary lands with BUZZ, a musical fresco created by Wilfried Wendling, composer and director of La muse en circuit, Centre national de création musicale. Take part (registration required) in this unique electro-lyrical experience as you explore the sublime gardens of the Domaine national du Palais-Royal.

  • Kepitos Txaranga - from 4pm to 4:30pm
    Make way for the amateur musicians of Kepitos Txaranga, whose varied repertoire ranges from paso doble to French variety!
  • Fanfare des Beaux-Arts - 4.30pm - 5pm
    The musicians of the Fanfare des Beaux-Arts will liven up the Palais-Royal grounds with their festive costumes and ever-changing repertoire.

  • Paris Brass Band and its brass champions - from 5pm to 5:30pm
    Multiple French champions in their discipline and spearheading the French Brass Band movement, these 33 musicians come from some of France's leading orchestras and play a festive blend of popular and learned tradition.

  • Show de La Vaillante - from 5.30 pm to 6 pm
    The fifty or so musicians in this ensemble create a tightly choreographed show of surprise and complicity with the audience.

  • Fanfare Caribop - 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm
    With its free-spirited approach to the rhythms and dances native to Guadeloupe and Martinique, the fanfare Caribop is sure to bring the sun out on June 21.

  • Kalala Soul concert - 8:30 pm to 9:15 pm
    A musician from the metro, Kalala Soul reveals a skilful blend of soul, groove and RnB, while her deep, hushed voice takes us on a journey.
