The Japanese drums of Tsunagari Taiko are once again inviting themselves to the Place de la Bastille in Paris for the new Fête de la Musique. Join us on Saturday, June 21, 2025 for a musical experience that promises to be out of the ordinary.

Good news for music lovers, as the Fête de la Musique returns to Paris, and everywhere else, on June 21, 2025! A quick reminder. The first Fête de la Musique was launched in 1982 on the initiative of the French Ministry of Culture. That year, the Ministry of Culture's studies and research department conducted a major survey of French cultural practices. It revealed that five million people, including one young person in two, play a musical instrument.

Jack Lang, architect and scenographer Christian Dupavillon, a member of his Cabinet, and Maurice Fleuret came up with the idea of a major popular event to enable all musicians to express themselves and make a name for themselves. The very first Fête de la Musique was launched on June 21 1982, the symbolic day of the summer solstice.

To mark this year's Fête de la Musique, the Place de la Bastille in Paris is hosting an unusual Japanese drum concert. Visit on Saturday June 21, 2025 from 5pm to 6pm, on the boulevard Richard-Lenoir median strip, to discover this Japanese drum show. Still relatively unknown in France, this musical practice gives off a powerful visual and auditory energy.

This original and powerful concert will be performed by the Japanese drumming school Tsunagari Taiko Center, and is scheduled to last an hour, so don't be late. It's an opportunity for the students of this rather special musical school to share their passion, joy and dynamism.

Audiences of all ages will be able to discover this unusual instrument, which is an undeniable invitation to travel, thanks to pieces played by the students, improvisations by the Awa Odori, and pieces played by the stage band. So, are you ready to set sail for Japan? Join us on June 21, 2025 at the Place de la Bastille in Paris to dance to the rhythm of Japanese drums and celebrate the new Fête de la Musique in an original way.
