Every year on June 21, the Fête de la Musique brings millions of people together in the streets of rural towns and small, medium-sized and large cities across France. Musical events are also organized in museums, cultural centers and concert halls. Paris, of course, offers many free concerts on this day. In the Île-de-France region, and particularly in Val-d'Oise , there are many fine musical moments performed by amateur and professional musicians.
But what exactly is the Fête de la Musique? Once a year, on June 21 (the day of the summer solstice), this popular and free musical event invites all musicians, amateurs of all levels and professionals alike, to celebrate living music and to showcase the breadth and diversity of musical practices, as well as all musical genres.
Created by the French Ministry of Culture in 1982, the Fête de la Musique has since been exported abroad, becoming a national event in countries such as Luxembourg, Italy, Greece, Peru and Colombia. Over the years, the Fête de la Musique has invented and reinvented itself, becoming an emblematic event that we love to celebrate every June 21.
For this new Fête de la Musique, it’s a chance to return to the essentials, through a série de concerts gratuits that are both festive and unifying. Whether on the street, in music venues and theatres, or even in museums, and whether it’s classical, rock, or electronic, the Fête de la Musique 2026 promises once again to be something beautiful and uplifting.
So it's a fantastic lineup waiting for you on Sunday, June 21 in the Val-d'Oise. You’re in the 95 and you’re looking for good tips for this Fête de la Musique 2026? Pick from these musts!
