The Nef
24 hours in the life of a postpartum woman… Defying stereotypes, the Big Up Cie tackles the taboo of postnatal depression in a show where humor, music, and puppets intertwine. On stage, the performer-puppeteer Alice Chéné embodies the solitude of a young, driven mother. The weight of societal diktats on her shoulders, the responsibility of a life in her arms. The intensity of a new happiness and the letting go of a way of life that has vanished forever. Post-partum is a party, or more precisely the day after a party, where one no longer knows what is true, where everything one believed in is demystified. With a blend of humor and emotion, Post party takes us to the heart of a woman’s intimate world, dreaming of celebration to forget the constraints of a patriarchal society that pushes mothers toward perfection.
