The André Malraux Library is offering a creation workshop inspired by Leonora Carrington, blending collage, cut-and-paste and surreal imagery, for Nuit Blanche 2026 on June 6, 2026.

For Nuit Blanche 2026, the André Malraux Library presents the workshop In the Style of Leonora Carrington, a creative session led by artists Armelle Antier and Petite Nature Paris, on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. In this Paris 6th arrondissement library, participants are invited to craft their own image using cutouts, collage, and assembly. The idea is to draw from the world of Leonora Carrington to compose a personal artwork, without needing to be an art or drawing expert.

The workshop offers a straightforward glimpse into the imagination of this surrealist-associated artist, brimming with strange creatures, dreamlike scenes and offbeat imagery. Her work is currently in the spotlight at the Musée du Luxembourg, with an exhibition running until July 19, 2026. The library’s offering thus bridges to this retrospective, the first in France dedicated solely to her œuvre. The Musée du Luxembourg is also set to host an on-site lecture about the Leonora Carrington exhibition, extending the discovery in another format.

Alongside the curious, Armelle Antier and Petite Nature Paris, the artist name of Delphine Huard, guide the creation step by step. The former concentrates a lot on places, buildings, and the spaces we inhabit. The latter comes from animation and printmaking, with a universe closely tied to nature and memory. Together, they invite participants to see the images differently, to cut them up, rearrange them, mix them, and give birth to a new composition.

This workshop offers a calmer, more interactive introduction to Nuit Blanche 2026, ahead of the evening routes and installations to discover across Paris. A simple, enjoyable way to engage with surrealism, letting the images and imagination take center stage.

The 2026 Nuit Blanche program at the André Malraux Library:

  • "In the manner of Leonora Carrington" surrealist creation workshop
    Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Artists Armelle Antier and Petite Nature Paris invite you to dive into the world of Leonora Carrington through a creation workshop that uses cutting, collage, and image assembly techniques to craft your own surreal-inspired piece.
This event is part of the exhibition Leonora Carrington, on view at the Musée du Luxembourg until July 19. This retrospective is the first in France devoted solely to the oeuvre of this all-around artist, both painter and writer. Carrington played a full role in the Surrealist movement, especially during her time in France. This partnership with the museum could well offer some surprises on workshop day…
Armelle Antier is drawn to questions about space planning and collaborates with urban planning and architecture firms. She develops a practice that is always linked to a place, rooted in a territory. The illustrator hopes her works reveal the environments we live in: urban spaces, buildings, interiors. Recently, she has been focusing on drawing with a pen and Chinese ink, as well as watercolor.
Petite Nature Paris (Delphine Huard) has worked in several animation studios. Tired of computer work, she trained in printmaking techniques at the Beaux-Arts workshops in Paris. Nature is her main source of inspiration. Through engraving, she aims to fix memories in the material, to transmute loss into creation. She reimagines scenes where rampant vegetation becomes a refuge, a hug, a protective setting against oblivion.

The Musée du Luxembourg will also present to the library a conference around the exhibition "Leonora - Ville de Paris".
