Season 11 of The Walking Dead completes the original series’ run on HBO Max. The streamer is thus announcing all eleven seasons, from Rick Grimes’ discovery of a devastated world to the final chapter, led in particular by Daryl, Carol and Maggie.
Created by Frank Darabont, the series follows a group of survivors in the southern United States after a catastrophe turns much of the population into the living dead. As they travel in search of shelter, the characters come up against other communities and their rules, as well as the walkers.
This eleventh and final season consists of 24 episodes. It sees Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride and Lauren Cohan return, while the Commonwealth takes center stage in the story. Laila Robins plays Pamela Milton, and Josh Hamilton plays Lance Hornsby, two key figures in the community.
The announcement concerns the flagship series: the complete collection lets viewers follow its story through to the end, without automatically including the spin-offs devoted to some of its characters. Here’s the season 11 trailer, unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con in 2021:
