After ending her career more than 10 years ago, the rapper Diam's has created a surprise with an unpublished documentary "Salam", co-directed with Houda Benyamina, which will be presented at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.

This Friday, April 29, 2022, the announcement of a documentary directed by Diam's and presented at the Cannes Film Festival has surprised many and brought back memories to some generations who knew theformer rapper well. In 2010, the interpreter of"La Boulette" or"Confessions nocturnes" had announced to end her career, after her conversion to Islam, to devote herself to her family and her faith. Since then, she was very discreet in the media.

"BrutX is proud to announce the world premiere and special screening at the Cannes Film Festival of the documentary film Salam, written and directed by Melanie Diam's, Houda Benyamina and Anne Cissé," the streaming platform said then in a statement. Apart from its title, which means"peace" in Arabic, and its directors, little information has leaked. BrutX added that the documentary would be about "fame, psychiatry, the search for meaning and her conversion to Islam" and that it would be an "intimate and modest story".

It is impossible to know if Diam's will be present on the Croisette during the Cannes Film Festival, which will be held from May 17 to 28, 2022. But this documentary is an opportunity for her nostalgic fans to find the rapper, after more than ten years without news.
