In this poignant drama by Béatrice Pollet, Géraldine Nakache plays the lawyer of her friend, accused of attempted homicide of the child she has just given birth to after denying pregnancy. "You didn't see anything either" is inspired by a true story, and will be released in theaters on March 8.

It is a unique judicial case that tells the story of Toi non plus tu n'as rien vu. Béatrice Pollet 's film tells a true story, and for that purpose she is surrounded by actresses Géraldine Nakache and Maud Wyler. It will be released in theaters on March 8.

The trailer of You haven't seen anything either

This inextricable story is that of Claire (Maud Wyler), who wakes up in the hospital after being found bleeding by her husband. She has no memory of what happened. It is the police who inform her thatshe gave birth to a baby that she abandoned on a garbage can, before arresting her for attempted homicide. Except that Claire knows that she was not pregnant. So begins a legal crusade to prove her innocence.

This is a real film about a subject that director Béatrice Pollet offers us. A fascinating subject, which she treats wonderfully, and which is rarely seen in cinema, that of the denial of pregnancy, and its consequences. For this fateful night remains incomprehensible for Claire, as it does for her friend and lawyer Sophie (Géraldine Nakache). Is it possible that her discernment has disappeared and that this supposed attempt at homicide is not of her making? This is the question that the film tries to answer.

It is by trying to answer it that the film shows its tragic, poignant and delirious dimension. Everything and its opposite is said and stirs the suffering of the family concerned, as much as that of the spectator. In its search for the truth, justice, embodied by a merciless prosecutor(Ophelia Kolb), is systematically cruel and uncomfortable.

By being so focused on its characters and its subject, the effects of staging are discreet, the goal here is to draw a portrait of a woman, in all its nuances. The latter says a lot about the place of women, and the way we instrumentalize their bodies. Toi non plus tu n'as vu plays a lot on the idea that others - and especially men - know better than the protagonist what is going on in her own body.

This is a nice echo to Saint Omer, released a few months ago, which also dealt with the trial of a woman accused of infanticide. These two films brilliantly evoke a new form of consent, and the importance of women's words.
