After nine episodes of great quality, the series of the moment draws to a close with its grand finale, as explosive as it is moving. The Last of Us ends in beauty!
It may be surprising, but this last episode is the shortest. However, it is not less good. By going straight to the point, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and achieves all its objectives. We discover Ellie's birth, and the reason of her immunity. In a funny twist, Ellie's mother is played by Ashley Johnson, who played the character in both video games. Back to the present, Joel and Ellie finally arrive at the Fireflies' lair, their initial objective. But of course, nothing happens as expected.
What strikes with this episode is the limpidity of its scenario. The series has accustomed us to this, the scriptwriters master to perfection the preparation and payment, a basic scriptwriting technique that consists in introducing many elements in its first part, before understanding their interest in the scenario in the second part. Each episode has one, so we end up getting used to them and see them coming, but each time, it's a no-fail.
We won't reveal anything about the end of the series, but its lack of binarity is heartbreaking. Viewers will undoubtedly have a hard time deciding on the quality of this final twist, and what to think of the choices made in it. One can only note the unspeakable emotion that emerges from it. The relationship between Joel and Ellie takes a new turn, and they will be linked forever. This is the kind of story we want to see more often, so deep are its heroes. In short, we loved this finale, just like the rest of the series!
