The Cannes Classics selection for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival has been unveiled, with Charlie Chaplin's Gold Rush celebrating its centenary as the opening film.
In addition to the Official Selection, the Directors' Fortnight, Critics' Week andAcid, the Cannes 2025 Festival has an extra section, Cannes Classics, dedicated to tributes and restorations. From May 13 to 24, these special screenings of heritage films will make way for the classics. New restorations, documentaries and special events will also be presented.
Numerous artists are also expected to present works from the Cannes Classics program at this year's Festival de Cannes 2025. They include Alejandro Iñárritu, Wes Anderson, Diane Kurys, Marina Foïs, Roschdy Zem, Shia LaBeouf, Raphaël Quenard and Mariska Hargitay.
Cinephile filmmaker, Palme d'Or winner with Pulp Fiction, President of the Jury in 2004, Quentin Tarantino is this year's guest of honor at Cannes Classics. He will share his passion for George Sherman by showing two of his westerns: Le Mustang Noir and Sur le Territoire des Comanches.
