We now know who will head the jury for the Caméra d'Or at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, one of the festival's most prestigious awards, which celebrates the first film presented in the Official Selection or in the parallel sections(Semaine de la Critique and Quinzaine des Cinéastes, with the exception ofAcid).
In the past, the Caméra d'Or has been awarded to renowned filmmakers (Jim Jarmusch, Jafar Panahi, Steve McQueen), and last year it went to Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel for his film La Convocation, presented in the Un Certain Regard category.
After last year's duo of Emmanuelle Béart and Baloji, Italian director and screenwriter Alice Rohrwacher will be in charge of leading the debates and awarding the Caméra d'Or 2025 on Saturday, May 24.
"First times are always important and stay with us all our lives. Like entering an unfamiliar room, approaching a loved one for a first kiss, landing on a foreign shore. There's something golden that surrounds these moments in our memory. Is this why the most prestigious prize for first works is called the Caméra d'Or?" declared Alice Rohrwacher, on the announcement of her nomination.
As every year, the rest of the jury will be made up of French representatives of the profession - press, industry, filmmakers' associations - alongsideAlice Rohrwacher. The names of the jurors will be announced shortly.
