Our Futurama season 11 review:

We were eagerly awaiting the return of the series, and we weren't disappointed! Futurama made its comeback after a 10-year absence, offering one episode a week on the SVOD platform since July 24. And with the final episode just aired, what can we say about the new season? Several things.

To begin with, the humor is as wacky as ever. With the exception of a few gags that don't work, right from the start, the show's trademark humor is back... And that's good! On the story front, Futurama continues to surf on current events, dealing here with TV series, the MeToo movement and Covid, with a hilarious dedicated episode. It's lively, often relevant, always funny. A series that even allows itself to be meta, with the first episode taking a self-critical look at the series and its various cancellations, ending with a moral that will speak directly to viewers. We also appreciate the references to numerous SF films, bringing the series into the modern era.

As for the characters, they're as strong as ever. The lead trio of Leela, Bender and Fry are as effective as ever. There are also a number of newcomers, such as Kif and Amy's children, anchoring the series in the present day. It's also a season packed with references, which fans will discover again and again on repeat viewings. The only downside is that it feels like something is missing, with episodes lacking a link to one another. Unless the whole thing is a bit more watered-down, as the series is now owned by Disney? We'll let you make up your own mind.

Nonetheless, this new season of Futurama hits the nail on the head, and should keep fans happy until the next season is announced. To your remote controls!

In the meantime, why not embark on a Futurama marathon to prepare for the arrival of this new season? Whether you're an old fan or a newcomer, get ready to embark on a journey into the future with this cult sci-fi series!
