The Nun: The Curse of Saint Lucia, a sequel to the Valak-focused film in the Conjuring universe, lands on Netflix on September 13, 2026.

The Nun: The Curse of Saint Lucia (The Nun II), the second chapter centered on Valak in the Conjuring universe, arrives on Netflix on September 13, 2026. Directed by Michael Chaves and released in French theaters on September 13, 2023, this horror film brings back Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene, Jonas Bloquet as Maurice, and Bonnie Aarons in the role of the demonic nun.

The story unfolds in 1956, four years after the events of The Nun. As a priest is murdered under mysterious, supernatural circumstances, a string of troubling incidents suggests the evil encountered at the Romanian abbey has not gone away. Sister Irene is drawn into the case and once again finds herself chasing Valak.

This new confrontation sends her to France, to a boarding school where Maurice now works, nicknamed Frenchie in the first film. The character had helped Sister Irene and Father Burke during their investigation in Romania, but the final scenes of The Nun revealed that their clash with Valak hadn’t quite ended.

The Nun: The Curse of Saint Lucy directly picks up this story while expanding Valak’s role in the franchise’s mythology. The film delves into why the entity tracks Sister Irene and introduces the Saint Lucy relic at the heart of their new confrontation.

The direction this time goes to Michael Chaves, who already knows the Conjuring universe inside out. After The Curse of La Llorona, he notably directed Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. The screenplay for this second The Nun is by Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing and Akela Cooper, based on characters created for the franchise.

Taissa Farmiga steps back into the role of Sister Irene, while Bonnie Aarons again embodies Valak and Jonas Bloquet teams up with Maurice. The cast also includes Storm Reid and Anna Popplewell. Moving the plot to France allows the film to leave the Romanian abbey of the first installment, while keeping religious imagery at the heart of its story.

Valak's presence directly ties these two films to The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Case. Released in 2016, that movie introduced the demonic nun to Lorraine Warren, before two spin-offs delved back into the entity's past. Valak's chronology thus runs through The Nun in 1952, The Nun II in 1956, and then its showdown with the Warrens several decades later.

In theatrical release order, The Nun: The Curse of Saint Lucia is the eighth film in the Conjuring universe to land on Netflix on September 13, 2026, following The Conjuring: The Warren Files, Annabelle, The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Case, Annabelle: Creation, The Nun, Annabelle Comes Home et The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

The Nun: The Curse of Saint Lucia will be available on Netflix starting September 13, 2026, alongside seven other films from the Conjuring universe.
