This Wednesday, July 12, 2023 in Paris, on the Parvis de l'Hôtel de Ville, the open-air screening of 'Vivantes', a creation by Elie Chouraqui, highlights the fight against violence against women. The event is free and open to all.

This Wednesday, July 12, 2023, Paris is putting the spotlight on the fight against violence against women. What better way to do so than to bring this cause to the heart of the City of Light, on the Parvis de l'Hôtel de Ville? In the square, a screening of'Vivantes', directed by renowned director Elie Chouraqui, echoes the poignant testimonies of women who have suffered violence. This event, open to all and entirely free of charge, is sure to be a highlight in raising awareness.

The play 'Vivantes', initiated by the association 'Nous Les Ambitieuses!', is a theatrical creation adapted from letters and testimonies by women victims of violence. Performed at the Palais Royal theater, it shares the stage with anonymous, masked women who tell their stories. The director and his team, all volunteers, rely on the support of several associations, including La Voix de l'Enfant, La Maison des Femmes, Excision parlons-en, AMREF, Women safe and children, working to rebuild the lives of victims of violence.

At a time when 57 women, including 3 in Paris, have been victims of feminicide in France since the start of the year, the City of Paris is using this screening as a reminder that the fight against violence against women is an absolute priority. To support this cause, the City has devoted over half a million euros to actions such as :

  • Creation of emergency shelters and accommodation,
  • Care for women victims of violence, in partnership with the Maison des Femmes de l'AP-HP,
  • Training for local social services (SSP) and municipal police officers,
  • Opening of a rights access plan.

It is in this spirit that Carine Rolland, deputy mayor of Paris in charge of culture, will be present at the screening, along with several of the play's actors and actresses. In strong words, Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, and Elie Chouraqui call for action against such violence.

In short, this is a powerful initiative that puts victims' voices at the heart of the fight against violence against women. It's a must-see event for anyone wishing to support this cause and get the ball rolling. So why not join us on July 12 at 8pm on the Parvis de l'Hôtel de Ville for this unforgettable experience.
