Sergei Loznitsa's The Invasion, in special screening at Cannes Festival 2024

The Cannes Film Festival 2024 has just unveiled a large part of its official selection, on April 11, 2024. Among the various sections, the Séances Spéciales showcase works that are "more personal" than those presented in competition, in the words of Thierry Frémaux, the festival's general delegate since 2007.

Sergei Loznitsa, the Ukrainian director and documentary filmmaker behind Donbass, which opened the Un Certain Regard section at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, returns to the Croisette to present his new film, L'Invasion, which will be screened as a special screening at the Cannes 2024 Festival.

"It's not a film about the Russian invasion or Russian aggression on Ukrainian territory. It's a film about the consequences, and what happens when a country is invaded by an enemy," explained Thierry Frémaux at the April 11 press conference.
