Following the success of the first installment, L'Ombre d'Emily 2 sees the return of the duo Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively in a thriller with a sophisticated comedy feel. Still directed by Paul Feig, this new episode takes viewers to sunny Capri, where the character of Emily (Blake Lively) is preparing to marry an Italian businessman. But as in the first installment, secrets and manipulations will cloud the event.
The sequel is based on a script co-written by Jessica Sharzer and Laeta Kalogridis, based on the characters created by Darcey Bell. The cast also includes Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Elizabeth Perkins and Allison Janney, promising a gallery of characters as intriguing as they are enigmatic.
L'Ombre d'Emily 2 will be broadcast on Prime Video from May 1, 2025.
Synopsis: Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) meet on the beautiful Italian island of Capri for Emily's extravagant wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman. In addition to glamorous guests, murders and betrayals invite themselves into this wedding full of twists and turns.
This sequel should appeal to fans of elegant thrillers with a touch of humor, just like the first film. With its blend of mystery, glamour and criminal intrigue, the film follows in the footsteps of the likes of David Fincher 's Gone Girl and Emily's Shadow. Those who appreciated the sharp dialogue and acidic tone of the first film will find the same atmosphere here.
On the other hand, if you're looking for an intense psychological thriller or a realistic crime drama, this film might seem too light. Paul Feig's style, known for its chic, offbeat approach to suspense, appeals more to fans of stylized thrillers and black comedies than to fans of classic thrillers.
With Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively reprising their iconic roles, L'Ombre d'Emily 2 promises a cocktail of glamour, manipulation and suspense. With its sumptuous settings and unspoken secrets, this light, elegant thriller should appeal to those who loved the first opus, while providing a breathtaking new intrigue under the Italian sun.
