Déni Oumar Pitsaev's documentary Imago is part of the Critics' Week 2025 selection.

The Cannes Film Festival 2025 is gearing up to welcome the next generation of world cinema. While the Croisette is already getting impatient, La Semaine de la Critique has unveiled the program for its 64th edition.

Faithful to its spirit of discovery, this parallel selection, focused on first and second films, is once again focusing this year on theboldness and freshness of young filmmakers. 11 feature films have been selected: 7 in the running for awards, 4 in special screenings.

Déni Oumar Pitsaev 's documentary Imago is one of the films in competition at this year's Semaine de la Critique.

La Semaine de la Critique 's biography of the director: "Déni Oumar Pitsaev was born in Chechnya in 1986. He also grew up in Kazakhstan and Russia. After arriving in Paris as a refugee at the age of 17, he studied at Sciences-Po, obtained a Bachelor's degree at INSAS, and a Master's degree at Luca School of Arts. Déni Oumar Pitsaev stages painful, personal stories. He is attentive to form, seeking to build narrative through atmosphere. He experiments with ideas in search of an aesthetic language to best express his intentions."

Where and when can you see Imago in France?

Imago will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The release date in French cinemas is not yet known.

Synopsis: I've been given land in Pankissi, Georgia, a valley backing onto the Caucasus, on the other side of Chechnya, where I was born. In exile, I plan to build a house in this isolated region populated by descendants of my Chechen clan. How could I live in such a place?
