After the official selection, it's time for the Semaine de la Critique to unveil its program for the Cannes Festival 2025. This parallel section, which focuses on first and second films from France and abroad, gives pride of place to young filmmakers.
This year's program features 11 feature films: 7 in competition, 4 in special screenings. The opening film is L'intérêt d'Adam by Laura Wandel, starring Léa Drucker, Anamaria Vartolomei and Alex Descas.
La Semaine de la Critique 's biography of the director: "Laura Wandel is a filmmaker from Brussels, who trained in directing at the IAD in Louvain-la-Neuve. She began her career in 2007 with her graduation film, Murs, which was selected for numerous festivals, as was her second short film, O négatif. In 2021, she directed her first feature film , Un Monde, which won awards at the Cannes Film Festival, the BFI Festival in London, and the Magrittes du Cinéma."
L'intérêt d'Adam will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The film will be released in French cinemas on October 1, 2025.
Synopsis: 4-year-old Adam is hospitalized for malnutrition following a court order. Lucy, the head nurse, allows Adam's mother to stay with her son beyond the visiting hours set by the judge. But the situation becomes complicated when Adam's mother once again refuses to leave her son. For the sake of the child, Lucy will do everything in her power to help this mother in distress.
