The man behind, among other films, the documentary Promised Land - presented out of competition at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, documentary filmmaker Eugene Jarecki returns to the Croisette for this 78th edition of the world cinema event.
This time, he will be attending the Cannes Film Festival 2025 to present a special screening of his new documentary. Entitled The Six Billion Dollar Man, it's a documentary about journalist, whistleblower and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
"Being a journalist has never been as dangerous as it is today, in a world where the defense of truth is under attack from all sides. This film traces the saga of Julian Assange, a contemporary emblematic figure of the right to information, whose recent release from prison has reignited the global debate on press freedom. Thanks to privileged access to images and archives from Wikileaks and never-before-seen evidence, this documentary takes the form of an international high-tech thriller," explains the Cannes Film Festival on its official website.
The Six Billion Dollar Man will be unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. The release date in French cinemas is not yet known.
Synopsis: The documentary follows the life of activist and journalist Julian Assange.
