Marvel Television and Disney+ present Wonder Man, an eight-episode miniseries created by Andrew Guest and Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the lead role, alongside Ben Kingsley and Josh McQueen, the series will be available on the platform from January 28, 2026.
Simon Williams, a failed actor with a turbulent past, attempts to relaunch his career when a whimsical director revives "Wonder Man," a superhero movie he idolized as a child. Determined to land the role, Simon embarks on an unlikely casting journey under the unexpected tutelage of Trevor Slattery, the former fake Mandarin, now a disillusioned but lucid comedian. Between chaotic shoots, ego rivalries, and media manipulation, the Hollywood dream turns into heroic satire.
In this meta-action comedy, Wonder Man explores the relationship between celebrity and identity, while taking viewers behind the scenes of superhero cinema. Marvel's signature humor and derision are mixed with reflections on the need for recognition and the quest for true power.
Previewed at New York Comic Con 2025, the series marks Marvel Television's return to the forefront. Destin Daniel Cretton returns to the Marvel universe after Shang-Chi, injecting a more satirical and Hollywood-esque dimension. The series combines action, comedy, and introspection, in line with the most inventive MCU productions.
Accessible to a wide audience, Wonder Man will appeal to fans of superheroes and stories about the illusions of success, while expanding the Marvel universe into comedy and spectacle within spectacle.
