Directed by Ric Roman Waugh and written by Chris Sparling and Mitchell LaFortune, Greenland Migration is an action and survival film starring Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, and Roman Griffin Davis. Distributed by STX Films and Metropolitan FilmExport, it will be released in theaters in France on January 14, 2026.
After a comet strikes and devastates the planet, the Garrity family leaves their refuge in Greenland to embark on a dangerous journey through the ruins of the world. Their goal: to find a new place where humanity can rebuild its future.
Faced with a hostile environment and desperate survivors, each step of the journey tests their cohesion. This post-apocalyptic journey questions resilience and solidarity in the midst of chaos.
The film continues the story of Greenland: The Last Refuge, released in 2020. Filming took place in Iceland and Canada. Ric Roman Waugh reunites with Gerard Butler, whom he previously directed in The President's Last Stand and Kandahar. Chris Sparling, screenwriter of the first film, co-wrote with Mitchell LaFortune, known for Kandahar. Produced by Thunder Road Films and Anton, the project was announced at the 2023 Cannes Film Market.
This second installment is for fans of survival stories and action thrillers, combining family drama and post-apocalyptic tension, in the vein of 2012 or The Road.
