Astérix - The Kingdom of Nubia unveils its trailer. Directed by Alexandre Heboyan, this new animated film inspired by the world created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo is slated for release in French cinemas on December 2, 2026.
This new original adventure of Astérix and Obélix is written by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte. The film takes the two Gauls to Nubia, south of ancient Egypt, in a story crafted for the big screen rather than as a direct adaptation of an existing album.
In Astérix - The Kingdom of Nubia, the famed Gaulish heroes leave their village on a long journey. Their mission takes them to a region south of ancient Egypt, where they encounter fresh scenery, new characters, and obstacles tied to a part of the world that has been only lightly explored in recent adaptations of the franchise.
The trailer confirms the film’s family-friendly direction, mixing adventure, humor and a touch of historical flair. It also underscores the decision to use animation to extend Astérix’s cinematic universe, after several live-action and animated adaptations.
The official trailer for Astérix - Le Royaume de Nubie offers our first glimpse of this adventure slated for the holiday season at the end of 2026.
