Parc Astérix is lighting up its snow-covered menhirs again for Gaulish Christmas, from December 19, 2026, to January 3, 2027, in Plailly, Oise (60), about 30 minutes north of Paris. Last winter, we laced up our skates beneath the roof of the Viking ice rink and strolled among the Christmas market chalets. This year, the park is bringing back the favourites and adding two new attractions: a sound-and-light show featuring Cleopatra and a Christmas tea with the Gaulish Father Christmas.
These Christmas festivities run throughout the 2026 Christmas holidays, making it easy to plan a family day out between festive meals.
It’s the big new attraction this Christmas 2026. In the Egypt area, which was transformed this season, the façade of Oziris’ palace becomes the screen for Cleopatra’s Wonders, a sound-and-light show projected directly onto the monument.
The scene has all the makings of a year-end truce, Goscinny and Uderzo style: the queen of Egypt invites all peoples to a grand celebration. Gauls, Vikings, Romans, Hispanians and Egyptians thus find themselves gathered beneath the projections, a little as if the entire album had been invited to the same New Year’s Eve party.
The outing is best enjoyed at the end of the day, when night falls early and the illuminated displays take over from the rides.
Another gentler new attraction: Father Christmas’s Snack Time. The Gaulish Father Christmas stops at a secret toy workshop, where the elves must sort out a series of problems with Saperlipopette’s help. The story ends with hot chocolate, treats and a meeting with the Gaulish characters.
The afternoon tea is offered in one-hour slots in the late afternoon and costs €18.90 per person, for both adults and children. Tickets are not yet on sale, so keep an eye on the official Parc Astérix website for when they go on sale, as spots for this kind of experience tend to sell out quickly during the holidays.
For a festive lunch, a Christmas buffet will also be set up in the Egypt area, priced at €37.90 per adult and €12.90 per child. It will also go on sale soon.
The Viking ice rink is back in the Viking zone. Opened last year, this semi-covered ice rink beneath a Nordic tent-shaped roof remains one of the day's highlights. Remember your gloves, and try to go early in the day, when it's least crowded.
Speed lovers can enjoy Obelix’s Slide once again: perched on a tube in the colors of the menhir deliveryman, they race down a snowy slope on Mont Gaulois. A Gaulish Christmas classic since 2024, it makes parents laugh just as much as children.
More contemplative in mood, the Père Noël’s Enchanted Gardens wind through a luminous trail of botanical displays, fairy-tale creatures and giant candy canes. Open all day, the walk is even more enchanting after dark—perfect for taking lovely photos with the family.
As for shows, the park has announced a packed program. Here’s what will fill the days:
The Gaulish Christmas Parade remains our little end-of-day ritual. Asterix, Obelix and the whole gang pass by on floats decked out in festive colors, and we find ourselves waving as if we were ten again.
The Christmas market completes the picture with its chalets, treats and seasonal songs, offering the perfect chance to enjoy a mulled wine between queues.
Yes, most of the park’s rides operate during Christmas in Gaul, with the exception of the water rides, which are closed for the winter. So you can ride Toutatis, Tonnerre 2 Zeus, Cétautomatix or the Tour de Numérobis between Christmas activities. Some rides have a minimum height requirement, so be sure to check this if you’re visiting with little ones.
The park’s hotels are hosting Gaulish New Year’s Eve celebrations. On December 24, families can enjoy a festive buffet, a visit from Santa Claus, play areas and Christmas carolers, for €110 per adult and €49 per child.
On December 31, the same pricing applies for New Year’s Eve, with the characters, live music at two hotels and a DJ night at Les Trois Hiboux. For a more formal evening, the Comptoirs d'Épidemais gala dinner features a show, dancing and an open bar from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., at €179 per adult and €69 per child.
The 2026 Christmas ticket has a flat price of €57 for both adults and children. Undated, it remains valid throughout the period, but is neither refundable nor exchangeable. The dated Liberté Flex ticket, which can be changed up to one hour before opening, costs €68 for adults and €59 for children aged 3–11. Admission is free for children under 3, and all rides and shows are included, except meals and New Year’s Eve events.
The park is generally open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., closing early at 7 p.m. on December 24 and 31, but it’s best to check the calendar on the official website before setting off. Parc Astérix is located on the A1 motorway, between exits 7 and 8, about 35 km from Paris. Parking is available on site for a fee, and shuttles also make it possible to visit without a car. To extend the adventure, the Les Trois Hiboux, La Cité Suspendue and Les Quais de Lutèce hotels offer stays with early access to certain rides. Customer service can be reached at 09 86 86 86 87, Monday to Saturday.
This Gaulish Christmas is aimed first and foremost at families who want to combine thrills and festive cheer in a single day, with older children who can enjoy the rides and younger ones delighted by the ice rink, parade and snack. Fans of the comic book series will also find plenty to enjoy, especially with this new show bringing together all the peoples from the album around Cleopatra. Bring warm clothes and plan for a full day: night falls early in December, and the evening shows are what make the visit so special.
