Parc Astérix is preparing a delightful trip to the Aegean Sea. In spring 2027, the Gaulish theme park in Plailly, in the Oise department (60), about 30 kilometers north of Paris, will unveil a major expansion of its Greece area. The line-up includes two new family attractions, a playground, a large full-service restaurant and the completion of work on Tonnerre 2 Zeus.
The park’s stated aim is simple: to move beyond simply joining one queue after another and offer a true place to spend time, where visitors can stroll, sample food and linger with their families. According to TourMaG, this new area covers around 5,000 m² and is inspired by Symi, a small Greek island known for its colorful houses.
This expansion is part of the €250 million investment plan launched by the park and its owner, Compagnie des Alpes. After the overhaul of the Egypt area in 2026, Greece is next, ahead of Londinium’s arrival in 2028. We already covered the plan in our article on the Parc Astérix attractions coming through 2028.
First up, with a dizzying name: Tournikotis Tournikotas. These are two family drop towers that take riders up and down in a series of short bursts. The aim isn’t to terrify, but to offer gentle thrills for parents and children to share.
The second attraction, Poseidon’s Fleet, invites visitors to board one of eight boats that spin and rise around a central pillar, like a small fleet setting sail on the waters of Olympus. A ride reminiscent of the flying chairs of our childhood, with a Greek mythology twist.
Together, the two attractions will be able to welcome 800 visitors per hour. The park hopes this will help spread out the crowds on busy days. Younger Gauls haven’t been forgotten either, with Ulysses’ Play Area, a themed playground based on the hero of the Odyssey.
This is the heart of this expansion. La Table de Dionysos is a large full-service restaurant, a concept that is still uncommon in amusement parks. It will have 460 seats: 350 indoors, in a setting billed as majestic and immersive, and 110 on the terrace to enjoy the sunshine (from Mount Olympus—or the Oise, depending on the weather).
The food and drink options are rounded out by two kiosks. At Nikos Bouldeglas (a nod here to the kind of pun typical of the world of Uderzo and Goscinny), visitors can pick up artisanal ice cream. At Elis, it’s all about granitas to cool off between rides. Finally, the current Taverne de Dionysos is getting a new identity and becoming La Taverne de Poséidon.
Opened in 1997, Tonnerre 2 Zeus is one of the park’s iconic attractions. This major wooden roller coaster had already been renovated in 2022, with new trains and a substantial section of the track modified, but many visitors still reported vibrations.
According to Journal du Geek, around 350 metres of track were reworked last winter. The park is completing the ride’s refurbishment this season, with a clear goal: a full retracking for the 2027 season. The promise? A much smoother ride, without losing any of the intensity that makes it so popular with thrill-seekers.
Greece won’t be the year’s only big news. The park is also set to open its fourth hotel in 2027: L'Odyssée, a four-star property with 300 rooms inspired by the Asterix album L'Odyssée. We take a look at the project in our article L'Odyssée Hotel: what does Parc Astérix’s new hotel have in store for us?.

This new area is clearly aimed at families with young children, who will find accessible attractions, a play area and a proper sit-down meal break here. Thrill-seekers, meanwhile, will be eagerly awaiting the return of a refurbished Tonnerre 2 Zeus.
One caveat: the exact date the park will reopen in 2027 is not yet known, and some details (minimum height requirements, restaurant menu) have yet to be confirmed. The images unveiled are mock-ups, and the final look may change. So keep an eye on announcements on the official Parc Astérix website.
In the meantime, the park in Plailly, accessible via the A1 motorway, will reopen for Gaulish Christmas, from December 19, 2026, to January 3, 2027.
