Parc Astérix is making a big splash with the announcement of L'Odyssée, its fourth hotel, which alone will double the capacity of the three existing establishments. A press conference held on Saturday, October 18, revealed more about the park's upcoming developments, such as this new hotel scheduled to open in early 2027. This €80 million project marks a turning point in the park's history with a resolutely oriental concept and a total capacity increased to 750 rooms. We reveal what awaits us in this establishment, which promises to become one of the most impressive theme hotels in France.
While Parc Astérix continues to evolve with its €250 million investment plan until 2030, the Odyssée Hotel embodies the park's ambition to become one of the top five amusement parks in Europe. The establishment draws its inspiration from the cult album L'Odyssée d'Astérix, published in 1981, and transports us to the eastern lands visited by our indomitable Gauls.
For the scenography, the park called on Thierry Retif, the designer behind Quais de Lutèce, voted the world's best theme hotel in 2020. This is a reassuring choice, given the talent of this architect, who has also worked on Station Cosmos at Futuroscope and several establishments at Puy du Fou. With L'Odyssée, he has made a notable stylistic break: after three hotels favoring wood and a forest environment, it's time for a more mineral aesthetic inspired by caravanserais.
These fortified buildings, which once lined the trade routes of the East, served as stopping points for merchants and their caravans. L'Odyssée revives this concept with a central building organized around an interior courtyard. The park has announced that no hotel has ever benefited from such a significant investment in green spaces, which will be a key feature of this new establishment.
The heart of the hotel reveals its true asset: four themed courtyards representing the ancient civilizations encountered by Asterix and Obelix during their odyssey. Each courtyard offers total immersion in a different culture thanks to carefully selected vegetation and spectacular landscaping.
The Egyptian courtyard transports you to the banks of the Nile with its papyrus swaying in the wind, sacred lotuses, and date palms. One can already imagine the decor evoking ancient temples and hieroglyphics adorning the walls. On the Mesopotamian courtyard side, you will discover hanging gardens with refreshing fountains, waterfalls, and pools reminiscent of the splendor of Babylon. Climbing plants and aromatic essences recreate the atmosphere of the palaces of the Euphrates Valley.
The Persian courtyard displays all the luxuriance of oriental gardens with its fragrant roses, brightly colored bougainvilleas, jasmine, and orange trees. The enchanting scents and water features typical of Persian architecture make it a true haven of peace. Finally, the Phoenician courtyard evokes Mediterranean trading posts with its olive trees, fig trees, and Mediterranean plants reminiscent of maritime trade routes.
At the center of these four worlds, a veritable green oasis is the jewel of the hotel. Never before has a hotel in the park benefited from such investment in green spaces, which will be the focal point of this new establishment. This central oasis, with its majestic palm trees, water feature, and lush vegetation, offers a striking contrast to the mineral facades inspired by caravanserais. It is this contrast between the fortified exterior and the green heart that creates the magic of the place, like an oasis rising up in the middle of the desert.
The hotel's interior facades will harmonize with the themes of each garden, creating total visual coherence and enhancing the immersion in each neighborhood. The rooms will overlook either these green themed courtyards or the surrounding forest that surrounds the park, but none will overlook the parking lot. This dual view allows residents to fully enjoy nature, whether recreated or authentic. A garden called the Jardin des Grenadiers will connect the hotel to the park by crossing a stream, extending the immersive experience to the entrance of the attractions.
With its 300 rooms, L'Odyssée will be twice as large as each of the park's three other hotels. The layout includes 16 rooms for 3 people, 216 for 4 people, 62 for 5 people, and 6 for 6 people. Among them, 4 suites with very large private terraces will occupy the 2nd floor. If you have already stayed at Parc Astérix, you will be familiar with the layout of the rooms: a separable double bed and an alcove with bunk beds, all in rooms measuring approximately 30m².
With a target rating of 4 stars, the facilities and services should be similar to those of the Quais de Lutèce. In terms of rates, Delphine Pons, general manager of Parc Astérix, has indicated that the hotel will be positioned between the Cité Suspendue and the Quais de Lutèce, while remaining accessible thanks to promotions and CSE offers.
The hotel does not skimp on dining and relaxation areas. Two restaurants offering all-you-can-eat buffets for breakfast and dinner will accommodate 700 guests. These establishments should maintain the recognized quality of the park's hotel restaurants, which already offer dishes well above the standard of classic amusement park dining.
On the ground floor, a bar will serve light oriental-style meals from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with terraces overlooking the themed gardens. We can already imagine the pleasure of sitting on the terrace overlooking the green courtyards after a busy day in the park. But the highlight will be on the top floor: a rooftop bar with a panoramic view of the hotel's interior from the fourth floor. We can already imagine the atmosphere at the end of the day with a breathtaking view of the central oasis and the various themed courtyards.
Families will appreciatethe children's playground, which will allow them to let off steam even outside the park's opening hours. A first for the park: a 1,500 m² seminar area with a 400-seat plenary room will accommodate business customers. The hotel will be accompanied by a four-level parking garage, which is convenient for preserving the views and maintaining the immersion in the oriental gardens.
Work began in September 2024, with the opening scheduled for the 2027 season. This fourth hotel is part of the vast transformation plan for Parc Astérix, which also includes new areas such as Londinium in 2028, extensions to the Egypt and Greece areas from 2026, and numerous new attractions. The stated goal is to increase the number of opening days from 208 in 2025 to 270 per year, with visitor numbers already climbing from 2.32 million to 2.9 million.
With L'Odyssée, Parc Astérix is confirming its strategy of becoming a true short-stay destination, capable of attracting visitors for longer periods. The hotel capacity, increased to 750 rooms, will attract customers from further afield, including international visitors, and optimize spending per visitor. In short, this ambitious project should make the new establishment an attraction in itself, encouraging visitors to discover or rediscover the entire complex located just 40 km from Paris, in the Oise region.
