Want to get away from the city for a while and spend time in the forest, in nature, near the wildlife? In our Île-de-France woods, you can occasionally spot majestic creatures, but you’ll usually need to rise early or wander after dark.
L'Espace Rambouillet, created by the National Forestry Office, gives you the chance to get up close with them—almost guaranteed—though it’s important to remember they’re wild animals, and they’re the ones in charge! A wide range of activities is on offer for the whole family, helping you make the most of your day among the 250 hectares of the wildlife park.
On the program: giant trampolines for children, an impressive falconry show, a little train to explore the forest, and several areas where you can observe stags, fallow deer, hinds, roe deer and wild boar, as well as wolves, at your own pace. You can spend the whole day in the park, thanks to a food truck and a pleasant dining area. Everything is designed to help you enjoy an exceptional day and reconnect with nature.
What’s new in 2026 at Espace Rambouillet:
- an area dedicated to deer from around the world, to help visitors better understand conservation issues
- the arrival of raccoons, to explore the issue of invasive species
- new facilities to improve the visitor experience
With kids, it can be tougher to spot wildlife, since you need to stay calm and still so they don’t dart off into the undergrowth. But don’t worry—some animals are used to the daily flow of visitors through the park and will be more likely to stick by your side.
We were lucky, during our morning visit, to get up close to fallow deer, just a few meters away, to our great pleasure. The stags are a touch wilder, but if you have the chance to approach them, you’ll be left speechless by their innate bearing.
Five distinct spaces are at your disposal, and you can move between them with ease: the Deer Forest, the Eagle Forest, the Shepherd’s Forest, the Wild Forest, and the Wolf Forest, available since 2025. In the first, you can watch deer and their family from a distance through observation posts, fitted with educational panels, tracks, and other playful, interactive features.
It's impossible to get close to them here, but you're bound to spot a few! As you push deeper into the forest, you may also encounter herds of fallow deer, some of which step forward to say hello, sometimes with their fawns. An unforgettable moment!
At the Forest of Eagles, you’ll discover nearly 150 birds of prey, some more impressive than others, building up to the highlight of the show, whose times vary depending on the season and the activities on offer. In a lovely open-air amphitheatre, owls, eagle owls, kites, buzzards, falcons, eagles and vultures soar above your heads for half an hour in a truly impressive aerial ballet, especially when the larger birds swoop past just inches above your hair, perfectly safely. You can even become a falconer for a morning and take part!

The last forest, and this is the largest, to complete the visit: the wild forest. Here you can see animals in semi-liberty, roaming in herds or in small groups. For those who don't feel like walking, or for families, there's a silent train that takes you in the animal's footsteps, but we recommend a walk to enjoy nature to the full.
For tens of minutes, not a single animal in sight—only the rustling of leaves and sunlight filtering through the trees. And then, around a bend in the path, we spot fallow deer feeding at a trough. Alert but unafraid, they watch us approach slowly, yet they don’t turn away.
We keep a good distance, not to disturb them too much, but the moment is striking. Already thrilled to have seen them, we follow other people and discover a quinzaine de cerfs and their massive antlers just a few meters away.
After the keepers who had come to drop off food passed by, they angled around us and moved toward the feeders, with far more restraint than the deer. Despite their imposing size and closeness, there was no sense of danger, and our exchanged glances were arresting as we stepped back to give them space. As we continued, a small wild boar briefly came into view through the foliage—the only one spotted on the hike!
Since last year, a new forest has joined the landscape, welcoming a pack of magnificent wolves that you can spot all around. Mission Forest, a playful play area, has also opened with slides, tunnels and a mini zipline to entertain children, not far from Emile the Squirrel’s zone and its giant trampolines.
