While the official competition grabs all the headlines at every Festival de Cannes, the out-of-competition titles also promise memorable moments for festival-goers, whether in special screenings or midnight showings. They can also discover in the Cannes Première section films presented in premiere, directed by renowned filmmakers—both women and men.
This year, the Cannes Film Festival 2026 will unveil, roughly six months before its French release on October 21, 2026, the new feature from Guillaume Canet, titled Karma, with Denis Ménochet and Marion Cotillard in the cast. The director hadn't directed a new film since Astérix et Obélix : L'Empire du Milieu, released in 2023.
Synopsis : In a small village in northern Spain, Jeanne is trying to rebuild her life with Daniel, who knows little about her troubled past. Then six-year-old Mateo, Jeanne’s godchild, disappears without a trace. To elude the rapidly closing net of suspicion from the police, Jeanne takes refuge in France, returning to the very community where she was born and which she fled years ago. Daniel refuses to believe his beloved is guilty and will do whatever it takes to find her before the authorities do.
