This is arguably the year’s most secretive and highly anticipated film project. Twenty years after his spectacular reinterpretation of The War of the Worlds, the undisputed master of the blockbuster, Steven Spielberg, makes a flamboyant return to his first loves: the science-fiction et les mystères extraterrestres. Scheduled for release on June 10, 2026, Disclosure Day (The Revelation) promises to upend the genre with a large-scale psychological thriller, centered on the day humanity discovers that it is no longer alone in the universe.
If the script has remained under wraps for many months, the first footage reveals a story anchored in our era, nourished by the latest reports on unidentified aerial phenomena. The film poses a universal, vertiginous question: “If you discovered that we are not alone on Earth? If it were proven to you, would you be afraid?”.
The story follows a breathless race against the clock, where state secrets, political machinations, and technological pressures collide. A quest for absolute truth that threatens to upend the established order and shake the very foundations of our modern society as reality becomes impossible to contain.
To bring to life the plot he himself conceived, Steven Spielberg has surrounded himself with his most trusted lieutenants. Thus we find the brilliant David Koepp on the screenplay (Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds) and, marking their 30th historic collaboration, the immense John Williams on the musical score.
On screen, the filmmaker offers up a notably solid, intergenerational lineup. British actress Emily Blunt leads opposite the breakout star Josh O'Connor (Challengers). They share top billing with a stellar cast that includes Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Wyatt Russell, and Colman Domingo.
