A half-century after the first flight of Star Wars, its music returns with a grand symphonic revival in Paris. On Saturday, May 15, 2027, gearing up for the Grand Rex for a musical journey through hyperspace: John Williams: The Star Symphony – 50 Years. Conceived by Only Once Inc. and the Grand Rex, this immersive symphonic concert pays tribute to the legendary composer who gave Star Wars some of the most instantly recognizable music in cinema history.
For about two hours, the saga’s mythical themes will be performed by a philharmonic orchestra and a choir. From the iconic opening to the formidable Imperial March, every note is set to make the Force resonate, in a production that blends live music, spectacular projections, lighting effects, and immersive staging.
The event sits in a year steeped in symbolism: in 2027, Star Wars marks its 50th anniversary. Since its 1977 debut, the saga has reshaped cinema with its groundbreaking effects and a bold, philharmonic score, diverging from an era dominated by rock.
With five Oscars and now-iconic film scores—from Harry Potter to Indiana Jones to Jurassic Park—John Williams has left an indelible mark on cinema history. At the Grand Rex, his music will transport audiences to a galaxy not far from Paris, uniting padawans, seasoned Jedi, and fans across generations.
