Open-air cinema in Paris’s 16th arrondissement: two free screenings with complimentary popcorn — the program

This summer, Paris's 16th arrondissement unfurls its screen beneath the trees. Two free screenings will take place at the Jardin du Ranelagh on July 8 and 16, 2026, to enjoy the seventh art in a bucolic setting.

As the sunny days return, the big screen lands in Parisian parks, squares and gardens. While La Villette has become the go-to spot for outdoor cinema aficionados, other corners of the capital are also hosting summer screenings, sometimes in more intimate settings. In the 16th arrondissement, it’s at the Jardin du Ranelagh, just steps from the Bois de Boulogne, that audiences are invited for two free evenings under the trees.

Starting at 9:30 pm, the garden paths give way to the big screen. Here, there are no velvet chairs—just grass for the seating and trees for scenery. Entry is free, popcorn is on the house, and all that remains is to settle in before the film begins at dusk.

The open-air cinema program for 2026 in the 16th arrondissement

For this edition, two films with very different atmospheres are on offer.

  • Wednesday, July 8, 2026 : Ma Mère, Dieu et Sylvie Vartan, with the presence of Roland Perez, author of the memoir on which the film is adapted.
  • Thursday, July 16, 2026 : Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre.

Two dates, two moods. A chance to swap the dark cinema for an outdoor session, all without leaving Paris.
