Scrooge: Mylène Farmer signs on to write and perform the film's original song

Mylène Farmer has written and performs the original song for Scrooge, Ti West’s film starring Johnny Depp. Paramount Pictures France confirmed the collaboration on October 21, 2026. According to Le Parisien, the singer has already recorded the track. This fresh adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol will arrive in French cinemas on November 11, 2026.

Entitled Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol in its international release, the film hits France under the title Scrooge. The trailer leans more heavily on Jacob Marley’s ghost, played by Ian McKellen, as well as the various spirits charged with forcing the old miser to confront his past, his present, and the future that awaits him.

The story centers on Ebenezer Scrooge, a wealthy, solitary man who despises Christmas and refuses to part with his fortune. On Christmas Eve, the visit of his former partner Jacob Marley is followed by the arrival of three spirits. Each one compels him to revisit chapters of his life and the consequences of his choices.

Rupert Grint plays Bob Cratchit, Scrooge's employee, while Sam Claflin portrays his nephew Fred. Andrea Riseborough, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, and Tramell Tillman round out the cast. Arthur Conti is set to portray, in particular, a younger version of Scrooge.

The screenplay is by Nathaniel Halpern. Ti West, director of X, Pearl, and MaXXXine, here tackles a ghost story that has been adapted to cinema many times. The trailer signals a gothic mood, while also foregrounding humor and the spectacular scope of Dickens’s tale.

The shoot unfolded in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with locations in London and Dublin. France’s film rating for the movie has not been announced yet.
