Queen: The band's 1986 Budapest concert to be shown as a one-off cinema screening this fall

Queen fans are set to hit the cinemas on Thursday, October 8, 2026 to catch, in a one-off screening, the British band's Budapest live performance from July 27, 1986. That show still stands as the biggest stadium concert ever staged in Hungary.

To mark the 40th anniversary of Queen's Budapest concert, the film of this monumental show in Hungary is hitting the cinema in a remastered 4K version with a brand-new audio mix. In London, an exceptional screening is planned for 3 October 2026. Across the globe, the film will be shown in a single screening in cinemas starting 7 October. In France, the date is set for Thursday, 8 October 2026.

The chance to dive back into this legendary Queen concert, hailed as the greatest ever staged in a stadium in Hungary. Delivered on July 27, 1986 at Budapest's Népstadion, before 80,000 fans, this show was part of the touring cycle known at the time as the Magic Tour. That tour has since become renowned as the band's final run with their iconic frontman Freddie Mercury, who passed away on November 24, 1991.

Set three years before the fall of the Berlin Wall, this Queen concert in Budapest was also the first Western rock show staged in a stadium behind the Iron Curtain. A concert that remains etched in the minds of many, and that fans will get to rediscover on the big screen this fall.

At this show in Budapest, Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and the others had the crowd on its feet, delivering a string of their timeless hits, including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “I Want To Break Free,” and “We Are The Champions.”
