The Trap, a German mini-series adapted from Melanie Raabe’s novel, will stream in full on Netflix on October 13, 2026. Friederike Becht and Hans Löw lead the six-episode psychological thriller from Isabel Kleefeld, the screenwriter-director of Dear Little.
A best-selling author, Lisa Konrad has hardly stepped outside her home in ten years. She has lived in seclusion since the night she witnessed her sister Anna’s murder, a case whose killer was never caught.
When she believes she’s spotted the killer on a TV broadcast, Lisa decides she won’t wait for the police to crack the case. She writes a novel directly inspired by the crime, then offers an interview to journalist Robert Lenzen, the man she suspects. Her aim is to entice him to her home and push him into betraying himself, even if that means becoming bait in his scheme.
Friederike Becht stars as Lisa opposite Hans Löw, who plays Robert Lenzen. The cast also includes Matthias Brandt, Anna Schudt, Miriam Ohlmeyer, Josephine Thiesen, Malaya Stern Takeda, Ursula Strauss, Sesede Terziyan and Michael Klammer.
Isabel Kleefeld serves as writer and director for this adaptation of Melanie Raabe's bestseller. The series also reunites producers Tom Spiess and Friederich Oetker, who were previously involved with Chère petite, which earned an International Emmy Award. The score is composed by Volker Bertelmann and Ben Winkler.
The narrative hinges on a duel whose terms remain deliberately unsettled: has Lisa really identified the killer, or is she projecting ten years of trauma onto a stranger? By confronting the novelist with the man she accuses, Le Piège turns an arranged meeting into a psychological standoff.
