24 Jump Street officially joins Sony's slate. The franchise's third chapter is slated for a US release on December 10, 2027. No release date in France has been announced yet.
Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube are in talks to reprise their roles as Schmidt, Jenko, and Captain Dickson. Their involvement isn’t yet guaranteed, despite their central parts in the first two films.
The project will be directed by Rodney Rothman, co-director of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He’s also co-writing the screenplay with Jonah Hill and Meghan Malloy. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the minds behind 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street, are back on board as producers.
The project is set to extend a franchise that itself was adapted from the police series broadcast from 1987, in which young agents infiltrated schools. The films turned this premise into a self-referential action comedy led by the Jonah Hill–Channing Tatum duo.
The plot of 24 Jump Street remains unknown. Its title, however, nods to the deliberately offset numbering announced at the end of 22 Jump Street, which had imagined a long run of missions and fictional sequels.
