The Club de l’Étoile marks the 30th anniversary of The Hunchback of Notre Dame this Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 2:30 p.m.. The Disney film released in 1996 will be screened, with Chronique Disney and several participants from its French-language dub in attendance.
Before the film, the Chronique Disney team will revisit how Paris is depicted, and take a closer look at Quasimodo, Esmeralda and Frollo, as well as Alan Menken’s score. The screening will be followed by a discussion about the making of the French dubbing.
Georges Costa, the musical director of the French-language dub; Claudia Meyer, Esmeralda’s singing voice; Bernard Alane, the voice of Clopin and La Muraille; Philippe Videcoq, artistic director of the French dub; and Anouch Danielian, the calligrapher for the French version, are among those announced.
Directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, this animated adaptation of Victor Hugo’s novel follows Quasimodo, Notre Dame’s bell-ringer, raised apart from society by Frollo. The screening is priced at €14 full price and €12 for concessions, at 14 Rue Troyon in the 17th arrondissement.
