The Atmosphères Festival has established itself as a major cultural event in the Île-de-France region, attracting some 20,000 people to the Hauts-de-Seine every year. This 15th free edition, which takes place from October 8 to 12, 2025 in Courbevoie, confirms its position as a pioneering festival on sustainable development issues. Under the banner of the Fête de la Science 2025 and its theme "Intelligence-s", this edition explores the multiple forms ofhuman, artificial and livingintelligence.
In this International Year of Glaciers, the festival mobilizes the scientific community and artists around this crucial issue. Pascal Signolet, founder and general delegate, recalls that the event "brings together cinema, the arts and science to decipher the world and share innovative experiences". The ambition has remained the same for fifteen years: to inspire, raise awareness and encourage us to transform our lifestyles in the face of ecological and social emergencies.
The multidisciplinary program features several formats: cinema previews, workshops, debates, round tables and live performances. Screenings take place at several venues in Courbevoie: the Cinéma Abel Gance, the Centre Événementiel and theEspace Carpeaux. Some twenty films (fiction and documentaries) will be previewed, with the participation of the creative teams.
The opening ceremony on Friday October 10 will be hosted by Sébastien Folin, in the presence of godmother Céline Sallette (actress and director) and godfather Marc-André Selosse (biologist from the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle). The evening will feature an extract from La Bohème 2050 and a preview screening ofAmour Apocalypse by Anne Émond.
Saturday, October 11 will feature a special evening on glaciers, entitled "Samedi soir sur la terre avec Heïdi Sevestre" (Saturday evening on earth with Heïdi Sevestre). Conceived by glaciologist Heïdi Sevestre and Sébastien Folin, this event combines science, art and human stories, with the screening of Glaciers d'Arctique, état des lieux by Pierre Dugowson and an immersive musical performance by Ghost in the Loop.
Among the films we're looking forward to are Nature by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, which traces the history of living things, followed by a debate with Jean-Pierre Bibring and Anne-Sophie Novel. Vincent Munier's Le Chant des Forêts, following on from La Panthère des neiges, takes us into the heart of the Vosges forests, with the director in attendance. Ma Frère by Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret, nominated for a Cannes Première award, explores the friendship of two young women supervising a camp in the Drôme region.
Other notable previews includeIsabelle Carré's Les Rêveurs, adapted from her book inspired by her own childhood in a psychiatric hospital, and Sebastián Lelio's Cannes-nominated La Ola (The Wave), which follows a student involved in the 2018 Chilean feminist movement.
Round-table discussions will cover a wide range of topics, including food waste with chef Chloé Charles and the Hop Hop food association, moderated by journalist Hélène Huret. The question "What if happiness were in the use?" will be explored with Fabrice Bonnifet, President of C3D, and Valérie Martin fromADEME.
A round-table discussion on "Intelligences " will bring together self-help specialist Pablo Servigne, intuition expert Victoria Pellé-Reimers and neuroscience professional Guillaume Vergez, moderated by Pierre Gilbert de Sator. The festival will also give a voice to young people with "J'suis trop chaud", in partnership with the Makesense association.
The Café des Sciences, hosted by Marie-Odile Monchicourt, offers a convivial space to meet the scientific committee with Michel Spiro, Pauline Zarrouk, Jean-Pierre Bibring and Marc-André Selosse. Workshops include "MBORAI - Music and indigenous Guarani culture of Brazil" with Ju Cassou and "Se relier à nos savoirs sensibles" organized by Anaïs Gauthier.
Physicist Sandrine Laplace 's " Marche du temps profond" takes visitors on a 4.6 km walk through 4.6 billion years of our planet's history. For children, the "Is my dog intelligent?" workshop with philosopher Flora Bernard questions animal intelligence.
The Village, set up on the large forecourt of the Centre Événementiel, offers a convivial space with food, refreshments and entertainment. The school program is aimed at primary and secondary schools, in collaboration withÉcollectif Briand.
Les Nouveaux Récits offers a short film evening on Saturday, with screenings of the finalists in the "La vie rêvée" competition and films from the RFI planète radio e-pop competition.
