Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga is back in the news! After being released on PC and Xbox consoles in May 2024, the game developed by Ninja Theory has been given a PS5 release date. And you won't have long to wait, as the game will be available on the PlayStation console from August 12, 2025.
After an announcement at the 2019 Game Awards (already), the studio has remained relatively discreet, unveiling a few impressive videos from other ceremonies, but without revealing much gameplay information. But the wait hasn't been that long, and a number of presentations have given us a clear idea of the game. For the PS5, there are no major changes, apart from the fact that the game will be available in two versions: a Standard Edition and a Deluxe Edition.
" Determined to save the victims of tyranny, Senua must fight to overcome the darkness of the world, but also her own darkness. Dive into the next chapter of Senua's story, a carefully crafted experience told through cinematic immersion, stunning visuals and exceptional sound."
At the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2023, Ninja Theory took the opportunity to share a technical demo of Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, highlighting the technological advances of the Unreal Engine 5. In this demo, we could admire the hyper-realistic rendering of Senua's face, played by actress Melina Juergens. While the lip-sync still betrays the fact that this is a video game, the overall quality of the animations is commendable, and suggests that the title will live up to expectations in terms of visual and sound rendering.
Note that Hellblade 2: Senua's Saga pushed the limits of real-time facial animation with Unreal Engine 5 at its release, as presented at GDC 2023. The game's heroine, Senua, also gave us a glimpse of the plot when she announced her desire to destroy the gods.
