Good news for Lord of the Rings fans! Amazon Games unveiled an exciting collaboration with Middle-earth Enterprises(Embracer Group) on May 15, announcing the development of a brand new AAA Lord of the Rings game. This new video game adventure, planned for PC and consoles, will immerse players in the heart of Middle-earth, the iconic universe of the J.R.R. Tolkien saga. Inspired by The Hobbit and the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, this MMORPG promises to bring the iconic stories of this fantasy universe to life for players.

The game will be developed byAmazon Games'Orange County studio, already known for its work on the MMO New World. This announcement represents a significant step forward for Amazon Games, which continues its commitment to developing in-house while publishing quality games from outside studios.

In addition to this ambitious project, Amazon Games also launched two games, New World and Lost Ark, and announced eight projects currently in production, including the upcoming Tomb Raider with Crystal Dynamics, Blue Protocol with Bandai Namco, and Throne and Liberty with NCSOFT. Publishing partnerships with Glowmade (UK) and Disruptive Games (US) for games to be unveiled later were also mentioned.

Alongside these developments, Amazon Studios is producing the Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power series for Prime Video, based on the second age of the Tolkien universe. It should be noted, however, that the events of this series are not directly related to the MMO currently in development at Amazon Games. Now we just have to wait for a release date!
