Is there a ghost in the machine? If you're captivated by the supernatural, then there's an intriguing upcoming video game you’ll want to keep an eye on. Announced by Daedalic Entertainment and DALOAR for April 8, 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox (now available for pre-order), The Occultist promises to deliver a paranormal adventure by putting players in the shoes of Alan Rebels in a narrative horror game. An exciting release for thrill-seekers and fans of the supernatural eager for mysterious stories full of eerie twists.
Here's the story. Paranormal expert Alan Rebels is on the trail of his father's sudden and mysterious disappearance. His father grew up on the cursed island of Sacrepierre, and it's there that Alan is about to confront the ghosts of his past. This uninhabited island, abandoned since 1950, was once the site of dark experiments and rituals carried out by a sinister cult. "This unconventional investigation will reveal to Alan the true power of the occult forces. Could the curse hanging over Sacrepierre be lifted... or is it better left alone?" the synopsis questions.
Now that's something to get excited about. But what can we expect in terms of gameplay? We're promised a first-person game combining exploration, infiltration and puzzles, all in an atmosphere that promises to be frightening, thanks in particular to a soundtrack composed by Pepe Herrero and "extraordinary graphic quality". To complete his investigation, Alan will need to use his occult pendulum, which "allows him to interact with and modify his environment thanks to its five unique and original mechanisms". Until we know more, let's watch the trailer!
