What if you took charge of your club without spending a penny? Football Manager 27, the football management game developed by Sports Interactive and published by SEGA, is available free on PC and Mac from October 29 to November 3, 2026, until 7 p.m. (Paris time). The promotion lets you try the new installment ahead of its official release, scheduled for November 10. To take part, simply download the pre-release preview version from a participating platform, with no additional registration required.
Players can find Football Manager 27 on Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store, as well as through Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, subject to the access terms of those services. The trial isn’t limited to a handful of matches or a selection of features: all game modes are available. Players can therefore start a managerial career, plan their signings, set their tactics and manage their team throughout the competitions.
This free period also gives players access to Shuffle Draft, the new multiplayer mode in Football Manager 27. Management fans can explore the game’s various options, solo or with other players, before deciding whether they want to continue playing after November 3.
Another important detail: saves made during the free trial can be kept. Players who start a career won’t have to begin from scratch if they later buy the game. Their progress can be transferred to the paid preview version and then to the full release.
Sports Interactive has also changed how it presents this launch phase. The old beta or early access model has been replaced by a pre-launch preview, designed to offer a version that is closer to the finished product in terms of polish.
Free access will end on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 7 p.m. Players who want to continue their save before the official launch can pre-order the game. SEGA-authorized retailers are offering a 10% discount, along with access to the preview version until November 10. Players using Game Pass can also continue their career as part of their subscription, subject to the service’s terms.
This initiative reflects the studio’s stated aim of allowing players to get a feel for the game before buying it. Miles Jacobson, director of Sports Interactive, explains: "When we announced FM27, we told our community that we wanted to show them more of the game before asking them to commit. With this free-to-play initiative, we’re going even further this year".
For longtime fans of the series and those who have never tried Football Manager, these few days offer a chance to get a real feel for how a club management simulation works. The trial period gives you time to find your feet, try out different strategies and start a season whose continuation will depend, this time, on whether you decide to keep the game.
