You can now replay Eivor’s adventure while keeping the weapons and armor acquired during your first playthrough... At least, that’s what the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla 1.8.0 update offers, available since November 5, 2026. Ubisoft announced the mode at the end of October; the French patch notes detail the quest you need to complete and what changes when you restart the story.
You need to complete “Holy Day”, the final quest in the Hamtunscire region. Completing it is enough to unlock New Game+, even if there are still quests left to complete. You start the story over from the beginning while keeping some of your progress. The difficulty increases with each new cycle, putting the gear you’ve collected throughout your adventure to the test.
If you find a piece of gear or a lore book you’ve already obtained, the game gives you mithril instead. This material is used to further upgrade divine-quality gear. You can now reach this quality without owning Dawn of Ragnarök.
The update also brings useful changes if you’d rather continue your current playthrough. At Ravensthorpe, a new storage chest lets you store weapons, armor and runes you aren’t using. The rune forge has an additional tier, which requires mithril. An optional expanded progression mode factors equipment, runes and mastery into the character’s power level.
Valhalla is also joining the Animus Hub synchronization system. It tracks objectives completed in compatible games, including Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and lets players collect rewards from the same space.
